Blog on iMechanica

Everyone interested in the discussed papers is encouraged to participate. Feel free to introduce discussions on other subjects that are relevant to the papers.

The latest blog addresses a paper on glass-fiber reinforced polymers and the competition between purely dissipative fracture processes and those that contribute directly to the creation of crack surfaces. For the particular material, micro-cracking, viscoelasticity and strain rate dependent plasticity interacts. As we all know, much of the dissipated energy does not contribute to the making of crack surfaces. Not only does this part consume energy but it may also changes the scene with micro-cracks off side the crack plane, blunting etc. The blog brings up how the J-integral may be used to capture the dissipated energy for a zigzagging main crack and a swarm of micro-cracks growing in different directions.

ESIS Technical Committees: Join the dedicated mailing lists
Subscribe In order to be always update about the activities organized by the ESIS Technical Committees of your interest, now you can join the mailing lists managed directly by the TCs Chairmen. The procedure is really simple. You have only to select the TC of your interest in the list you find below (also more than one!):
TC01 - Elastic Plastic Fracture Mechanics
TC02 - Micromechanisms
TC03 - Fatigue Of Engineering Materials And Structures
TC04 - Polymers, Polymer Composites and Adhesives
TC05 - Dynamics of fracture and structural transformations
TC06 - Ceramics
TC08 - Numerical Methods
TC09 - Concrete
TC10 - Environmentally Assisted Cracking
TC11 - High Temperature Mechanical Testing
TC12 - Risk analysis and safety of large structures and components
TC13 - Education and Training
TC14 - Integrity of Biomedical and Biological Materials
TC15 - Structural Integrity of Additively Manufactured Components
TC16 - Finite Fracture Mechanics
TC17 - Non Destructive Evaluation
TC18 - Structural Integrity of Welded Joints
TC24 - Integrity of Railway Structures

ESIS Technical Committees: Shared Google Drive folders

For each Technical Committee, a shared Google Drive folder has been activated. Filling the FORM and joining the TCs (one or more, it doesn't matter!), you will be able to share your publications (in the pre-print format), giving them more evidence, and you will be always updated about the papers published by the other TC members on the topics of your interest (and, obviously, about the TC activities).

ESIS: Google Workspace for all the ESIS members
The Google Workspace (basic version) is available for all the ESIS members (since 2016 onwards) and all the members receive the credentials completely free of charge (the normal cost of this service is 50 USD per user/year).
If you are an ESIS member (01.01-31.12) and you did not receive the credentials, please, send us an email (esisweb.org@gmail.com).
Since 2017, G Suite credentials are used as credentials for the ESIS website (please, activate these credentials in Google before using them in the ESIS website).
